Culture Week March 2007

Last week CCEL organized a Culture week: every day, from Tuesday to Friday, different groups of countries prepared traditional food, costumes and pictures to share with all the other students in the school.

Tuesday was Japan, Taiwan and Thailand’s day: we had the chance to learn a lot more about all these cultures. The students from those countries cooked Chirashi-sushi and Okonomiyaki, some girls wore kimonos and our Japanese advisor Shumpei played traditional Japanese music with the saxophone.

Wednesday was Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and China turn to show off; we tried Swiss chocolate, Italian pasta, French cheese and we played Chinese games. We had the chance to see many pictures from Estonia and to know a lot more about its history.

Thursday Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela arranged lots of different things. We listened to Brazilian and Mexican music ate Venezuelan cookies and saw many, many pictures from Chile and Colombia.

Friday was time for Korea, Turkey and Saudi Arabia’s day: some of the Korean and Turkish students danced with traditional music and we tried Arabian coffee.

All the students participated with great enthusiasm and we all learned a lot about traditions coming from all over the world.
