New PM Class – Learning English through Gaming (starting June 18)

June 18th, we will be opening this elective for ENG120 / ENG125 students.

Video games have become one of the most popular forms of entertainment in the world. Because language is such a vital part of many of them, video games can be used as a tool for learning English. Students develop reading and listening skills through playing the video games. They develop speaking and writing skills through discussion and classroom activities centred on the content of the games used in the course.

Week 1: Games to be played: Final Fantasy 1 and 4

Weekly objectives: Learn about and discover the backstory of early games in the Final Fantasy series; Understand the rule of speaking to everyone in a role-playing game (RPG); Find new vocabulary words spoken by characters and non-player characters (NPCs); Complete first segment of the game (FF1 Garland Quest, FF4 Mist Dragon Quest).

If you are interested in this elective please see Beck.
